Repair Session, HS Outreach, and Volunteer Site this weekend!

High School Outreach at Career Day for Girls
Date: Saturday, February 26th
Location: Ford

We will be hosting girls from around the area on campus to give a presentation on engineering and global health, and work with the High school students to build the ESU testers that we have also been building on campus. This is a great opportunity to give back to the surrounding community and teach high school students about global health and engineering. Volunteer Site at Mission Outreach
Date: 2/26
Location: Mission Outreach Warehouse (transportation provided)
Time: 9 AM -12PM (leave at 8:30 AM from campus)

In partnership with NCDC/Oasis, we will be sorting donated medical supplies at the Mission Outreach Warehouse so that they can be efficiently sent to hospitals with limited resources. Shadowing Trip to TrimedX
Date: Sunday, February 27th to Monday, February 28th
Location: TriMedX Warehouse in Indianapolis
Cost: FREE!!

We will be traveling to Indiana to work with professional engineers to repair medical equipment from our partner, Mission Outreach, during an intensive daylong repair session. This is a really exciting opportunity to gain expertise to bring back to campus repair sessions while networking with professional engineers. Dates: Tuesday, November 16th

Description: EWH, SWE, GlobeMed, BMES, and ESW are hosting Kara Palamountain, a Research Assisstant Professor at the Kellogg School of Management, who is also the Executive Director of Kellogg's Global Health Initiative. In 2006, NU received a $4.9 million grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to research and develop affordable diagnostic devices for infectious diseases plaguing UN-defined "least developed countries". She will discuss her work relating to this grant. We are very excited about the opportunity.
